The thing that every mentoring program will tell you is that they need more mentors more than anything else, even more than money. If you push a little further, you’ll hear that they also specifically struggle to recruit enough male mentors and enough people of color. We don’t have all the answers, but this presentation shares some of the lessons that we’ve learned.

“A Call for Male Mentors” was the best recruitment tool Blue Ribbon Mentor-Advocate ever had for recruiting male mentors. It’s an open letter to men in our community. It has been published in local papers a couple of times, recorded as a radio commentary, and used it in an email several times. If you’d like to use it in your community, please just give Graig Meyer credit. Of course, we’re sure you could write your own version and it would be even better.
